Dr. Myrtis Brightharp-Walker is a 41-year veteran educator. She presently serves as Principal of Bettis Preparatory Leadership Academy and Adjunct Professor.
She has been a teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, District Office Coordinator, an Adult Education Director, a Principal Specialist and Leader, contracted by the State Department of Education, a Director of Federal Programs, Educational Consultant for the State Department of Education, and Assistant Superintendent. She has written and been awarded several educational grants in support of funding for after-school programs, early childhood initiatives, tutoring (elementary-high school) and STEM education ranging in amounts from $250,000- $896,000. Collaboration grants have yielded an excess of $4 million in funding. Additionally, she has served as director/ coordinator, project manager and collaborative liaison ensuring implementation of the grants.
